IT’S HAPPENING!  - THE 26TH CDE POSTGRADUATE FORUM IN DIABETES MANAGEMENT, 24/25 AUGUST 2024 (MASLOW HOTEL, SANDTON)

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are thrilled to announce that our forthcoming CDE Postgraduate Forum in Diabetes Management will take place on the 24th and 25th August 2024.
This will be an in-person meeting only and will be held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton.

The committee is currently in the process of finalising a superb programme to ensure that your weekend spent with us is both informative and adds to your current knowledge and expertise.  Our corporate partners will be exhibiting and sharing their latest products, innovations and technology with you – something not to be missed when you visit the exhibition during the course of the two days.  It’s an opportunity for you to network with your peers and collaborate on a one-to-one basis.

The meeting will be preceded by a separate meeting entitled “Ethical Narratives in Chronic Care”, held on the 23rd August 2024.  

Please register as soon as possible to facilitate the organisation of the Forum.

The deadline date for registration is 30 July 2024.THE COST PER DELEGATE IS R4500 (excl. VAT) and includes:
1. Ethics Meeting on the 23rd August 2024;
2. Dinner Event.

Accommodation & Travel is for your own account.

Rooms that have not been booked a month before will be released back into the system and then it will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Rooms will be released after the 22^nd July – the blockbooking rates and code will remain but guaranteed accommodation is only upuntil the close of business on the 22^nd.

The CDE Academy of Teaching and Learning - Ethical Narratives in Chronic Care

On behalf of the organizing committee, we invite you to participate in an upcoming Ethics Congress facilitated by the CDE Academy of Teaching and Learning. This much-anticipated inaugural Congress is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of August 2024 at The Maslow Hotel, Sandton, Gauteng.

This year's congress theme, ‘Ethical Narratives in Chronic Care’, aims to explore the evolving landscape of ethical considerations in this increasingly complex clinical space.

By embedding interprofessional education in medical education, and especially within the continuing medical education space, a more agile and client-centred approach to care provision can emerge. For this to occur, each healthcare professional will require enhanced capabilities. Each of us will need better understanding of each other’s roles, respect for our differences and enhanced communication skills.

When reflecting on the attributes needed by the future professional workforce, Frenk, et al. (2010) state that “growing gaps and inequalities in health and care, new infectious diseases, environment and behaviour risks, demographic challenges, changing disease patterns, antibacterial resistance, technological and informational advances, economic challenges, public health concerns in relation to chronic illness and recently a global pandemic” render the status quo unable to meet emerging complexities.

The CDE Academy of Teaching and Learning is committed to fostering an environment that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and learning, and the exchange of perspectives to address the moral challenges of our time.
